TEMPORARY MODIFICATION OF
IN-PERSON SERVICES

Dear Community,

March 11, 2020 – Like many of you, we at SASS have been carefully following the news about novel coronavirus and the disease it causes (called COVID-19). Our staff serves the community in our offices, in educational spaces, and in medical settings. We have therefore been considering carefully how we can ensure safety for our clients, our staff, and the greater community. At this time, we have decided to make some adjustments to our services, which we will reassess as the situation evolves.

Until further notice, we will provide services in the following ways:

  • Our 24/7 Crisis and Support Hotline will continue to operate as usual.
  • Hospital advocacy will take place over the phone. We are working with hospital staff to arrange for phone advocacy for survivors in emergency departments.
  • Our drop-in hours, support groups, in-person counseling, and other in-office meetings are suspended. Staff will connect with clients individually to arrange phone conferences for all meetings that are currently scheduled or will make other individual arrangements as needed.

We recognize that these steps will impact survivors throughout our community and we regret having to make these decisions. However, our highest priority must be to protect the health and safety of all our clients, our staff, and the community. We would not want any person to access our services and be exposed to COVID-19, particularly because we interact with many vulnerable people in high-risk categories.

We will be following guidance from Lane County Public Health, the Oregon Health Authority, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. If you have any questions about our policies or services, contact us at 541-484-9791. The 24/7 Crisis and Support Hotline is always available to survivors, their partners, and their families; the hotline can be reached at 541-343-7277 or toll free at 844-404-7700.  We will keep our website and social media up to date as the situation progresses.

Querida Comunidad,
